Happy 5th Birthday to "Help Them Up"

My book, "Help Them Up" is dedicated to my dad. He was my North Star on the days when I felt energized and also the days when I encountered frustrating obstacles going through a process I knew nothing about. His birthday is March 14th so I chose 14 principles in honor of him. One of my favorite pictures of my dad and I is in the beginning of the book because it always puts a smile on my face. Thank you, dad, for displaying championship culture behaviors on a daily basis: consistent, inclusive, a sense of humor, and love for your family and friends.

I also want to express my gratitude to EVERYONE who has been apart of this journey: My family, friends, coaches, teammates, etc. I could not have done it without you and hope you know the positive impact you've had on my life, and in so many others, through this book.

The goal of the book was to positively impact just one person. That was it.

It has been so rewarding learning of the impact the "help them up" vision has had on so many.

Lastly, a big thank you to our 23-24 basketball team. My first season as varsity head coach. We had an athletic department and community who supported us. We had an incredible group of players and coaches who BELIEVED in building a championship culture.

We had a vision board that we brought to every practice so it was always top of mind:

  • Most Connected Team

  • Best Defensive Team

  • Most Unselfish Team

Down by 9 in the championship game, at home, with 8 minutes to go.

We didn't panic, we stayed together.

We didn't yell at each other, we high-fived and we smiled.

We didn't point fingers, we put our thumbs up (our team signal for "it's all good."

We didn't try to win the game with selfish play, we made plays for each other.

We didn't give up, we believed.

We became champions. Not just because the scoreboard displayed 49-45 in our favor, but because we all learned the power of being a TEAM, a FAMILY. And for that, I am forever grateful.

Thank you for reading and please feel free to reach out if I can help in anyway!

Sending positive vibes,

Dan
